Autoportrait

I was born and live in Reunion Island. As early as 7 years old, trying to escape violence and stigmatisation from some of my peers, I sought refuge in two magical universes: Nature, and books. As a really wild child, all my free time was shared between these two worlds. During the day, I was exploring the forests, mountains and frozen streams of the Alps; and during the night, I was reading Jules Verne and National Geographic. It was decided: when I’d grow up, I’d be an explorer…

Back to Reunion Island, I started photography 20 years ago. Remaining faithful to my childhood vocation, for over ten years, I have been roaming the towering Nature of this island, almost always solo. Recently specializing in canyoneering and caving, I reached the required level to achieve, solo, some canyon descents which are regarded as difficult.

Having begun by digital photography, nowadays I also often work in analog for specific projects, in medium and large format photography.

Now, it is my earnest hope that I reach the most wild and elusive places on Earth to take pictures of them, and that I achieve the same quality of work than Sebastião Salgado, Frans Lanting or Steve McCurry.

In an other part of my life, I am also a fervent activist for women and LGBT+ rights.
